Engagement Sessions!

Updated: Apr 10, 2018

Congratulations! It's real!

Somehow engagement sessions bring the fact that you are getting married to life. Normally sessions happen nine to six months before your wedding date and my hope is they embody a light and playful celebration of the love that will set the stage for the countdown to your day. Let's celebrate!

Engagement pictures are for you to capture and announce this moment in your life. Equally as important it is a time for us to lay a foundation for the pictures that will happen on your wedding day. During this shoot we get to know each other. I get to learn how you two interact, photograph and what your level of  comfortability is in photos. At the end of your session we will have gotten a chance to laugh, celebrate, enjoy this moment and consequently bond. When you get your pictures back your confidence will be boosted as you see how amazing and natural you two look in photos and a trust will be established that I will take good care of you and that you will love your wedding day photos!

Things to think about...

Some people use an engagement photo for "save the dates." Perhaps there is a certain save the date picture we should plan for.

Bring at least four outfit changes: Something casual, a couple dressy things, and something uniquely you two.

Maybe this is a time for a make-up and hair test run before your wedding day. We can schedule the photo-session so that you can primped and pampered by your stylist before your shoot.

I like to do engagement sessions in a place where we can get lots of different types of photos in a short distance. Places like Loring Park that has greenery, water, urban and funk in one spot is ideal. Other places I like include: Stone Arch Bridge, Centennial Lakes, and Lake Harriet Band Shell. The goal is to picture play and experiment in a way that results in a bunch of photos that look like the happened on a bunch of different days.

It takes me a couple weeks to get the edited and enhanced photos to you. The digital images are all yours to love, share and print as you like. And I must say, I always love to see the engagement pictures in guest books, on tables and walls, in a slide show because then I know you love the pictures as much as I love taking them.

Engagement sessions give us the opportunity to

♥  get to know each other before the big day. ♥

Also we can get really creative with the engagement session in ways that we can't at your wedding.

I specialize in creating a fun and relaxing atmosphere,

and I will bring your unique relationship to life through this shoot!
